...met in college back in 2007 where they majored in acting the most awkward around each other. As you might imagine, voicemails with a higher ratio of silent pauses to actual words and the occasional lending of Phish CDs, goofy interactions in the sculpture studio, and bass lessons via Facebook message only get two introverts so far in the romantic department.
Kirk headed home to Houston for a few years, but came back to Shreveport in early 2015 with that new-found ability to grow a beard and a developed expertise in children’s book writing/illustrating. This (obviously) caught Sarah’s attention when they got coffee in February of 2015. By April, they (ok, Sarah) finally figured out that they were, in fact, dating.
Things got a little less awkward (eventually), and after a year full of learning each other, encouraging each other’s creative pursuits, collaborative music, lots of coffee, lots of laughing, lots of homemade pizza and happy hours with friends, seeing the best and the worst of each other, getting good (ok, better) at conflict, saying the same thing at the same time too often, and finally figuring out Kirk’s Enneagram number…it was more than obvious they’d rather do this forever thing together than apart, and that it could be a beautiful thing.
They can’t wait to celebrate with you–the people who’ve most shaped them each into who they are today–as they make this marriage covenant. They look forward to making an artful home together where they both can thrive, pursue their dreams, live rooted in community, do more good than harm in the world, and have the best designed chore chart. Ever.
They’re grateful. They’re excited. They’re ready.
